I found this recipe printed on Apr 19, 1938 in the Press and Sun-Bulletin newspaper. I decided to try it cooked over a beef roast. I made the roast in my Instant Pot. I LOVE my Instant Pot. It is so easy to cook meat with it. I seared a 2 1/2 pound beef roast in some olive oil, poured this sauce over and set it to cook for 60 minutes. I let the pressure release naturally. After I removed the meat to let it rest, I thickened the sauce with a mixture of cornstarch and water and served it over the meat. It would make a very tasty gravy if thickened more than I did. My whole family loved it!
